I think its a perfectly good option as long as you understand that the critical skill to succeeding in that industry is NOT how good you are as a designer, but how well you can market yourself. There are lots of super talented designers who make no money because they can’t sell, and lots of hacky shitty designers that do great because they’re great self promoters.
So as long as you are cool w hustling your ass off to get work, it’s a great career and you can actually make pretty good money (the upper limit for a freelancer is higher than for a designer who works for someone else).
Can I have a full time graphic design job plz that would be great. No? Just gonna take that job
There’s a chance I could be getting this cool as graphic design job. Fingers crossed I get it!!!
Design is most powerful when it tells a story about something that matters, in a voice that matters.
why do we hate rich Chinese students so much? is it internalized racism? actual racism? class envy? is it that we can’t bear to look upon another givenchy graphic MCM backpack combo
it’s the last thing

My life’s been pretty good atm. I’m starting my internship as a graphic designer soon, catching up with old mates I haven’t seen in a while, everyday I feel more and more connected with my beautiful lady and life has just been all round good. Sick Machine is going a ok as well. Although I’m not happy because there are no hardships atm, in happy that that mentally I feel more confident than I’ve ever been in facing whatever challenge that comes to me. I have so many ideas I want to get out of my comfort zone and face whatever challenge that comes to me. I’m also happy at myself because I chose to surround myself with good people. I actually can’t sleep over how happy I am it’s ridiculous.
It’s a pretty fucking good feeling when you realise that some posters I’ve made in the past have been printed to around 6000 schools in Australia. It’s good to know that my design work has made a positive change in helping the disadvantaged. Also its still the beginning.
How good are Suffocation though?

The way I got in is simple: I’ve been friends with the founder of the company (Chase Jarvis) for 15 years. Now, I am also super qualified and have the experience to prove it (for example, I used to do marketing for Abercrombie & Fitch), but the point is that NETWORKING was the key to making it happen. I never applied for the job or anything like that, because it didn’t exist— I created the job for myself.
The point is that yes you need to be qualified, but that’s not always enough— NETWORKING is going to be the key to big opportunities 9/10 times.
